I don't know about you, but I'm pretty sure I've seen every season of Project Runway. Way back when it started I remember thinking "Oooh look, a reality show that requires skills, talent, AND fashion." Every time I watch it makes me want to start sewing all my own clothes even though I'm know my sewing and pattern-making skill level isn't quite up for it. I've made a few costumes though and have had some success with refashioning and even more with repairing. I tend to wear clothing until it literally falls apart so a whole in anything means mild disappointment followed by excitement that I get to pull out needle and thread and patch it. I will mend pretty much any item of clothing. Many years ago in frustration my mother actually chided me for darning white exercise socks, noting that we could at least afford to get new socks. :)
So as for Project Runway – yes, there have been questionable judging decisions and in the last few seasons sometimes it sounds like they're reading off cards, but it's coming back for another season tonight and I'm still going to watch it. While Joanna Coles ended up being a pretty good mentor on the All Stars season, I'm most looking forward to being imparted with more Tim Gunn wisdom (even if he isn't actually speaking directly to me). He is such a terrific mentor with his combination of criticism and caring. And I can't even count the times I've reminded myself to "Make it work." It actually helps. Thanks, Tim Gunn.
That's right. I've broken my scissors. Literally used them until they fell apart.
